The polariscope is among the simplest instruments used for the recognition of gems.

Can be used as a light source for refractometers and microscopes.

The base includes a light source, above which is placed a polarized filter.

On the top is placed a second polarized filter.

Analyzing a clean stone transparent enough to allow the passage of light, it is possible to check the single or double refraction of it.
